Mr.Top 今天要介绍一部最新美剧—《国务卿女士》。在学生Jake和Dr. McCord的对话中，needy 并不是指贫困的、需要帮助的，而是’Requiring attention beyond what is normative’, 就是所谓的“求关注型、黏人型”。Mr. Top’s girlfriend is very needy, too. 我女朋友也很黏人呢！

Jake: Dr. McCord!

Dr. McCord: Yeah?

Jake: Can I talk to you about my thesis?

Dr. McCord: Sure, during office hours.

Jake: Yeah, your office hours don’t really work for me.

Dr. McCord: Sorry to hear that.

Jake: Thing is, I don’t really want to write about the cold war.

Dr. McCord: You’re aware that the class is called ‘Postwar Politics and the Cold War’?

Jake: Yeah, but I feel like it’s been done.

Dr. McCord: That’s why they call it history, Jake.

Jake: Thing is, my theory, is that we’re living through a new cold war.

Dr. McCord: All right, compare and contrast to the original, and convince me.

Jake: Great. Also, I need an extension. My parents are coming to town and they are very needy.
